Tanteo Tequila, producer of 100% agave tequilas, announced the launch of their 2024 Tanteo Standoff cocktail competition. First hosted in 2010, the Standoff is Tanteo’s innovative competition to celebrate bartenders and engage consumers in a playful, interactive way, the company states.
For the first round of this year’s competition, participants are encouraged to show off their personality and skill by creating a showstopping Tanteo cocktail, using any Tanteo Tequila flavor of their choosing. Forty-eight semi-finalists will be selected on May 5 to move forward to the virtual segment of the competition, according to the company.
A panel of judges, in tandem with online consumers from across the nation, will then determine eight finalists who will receive an all-expense-paid trip to Mexico for the championship in August. There, the finalists will compete in front of a live audience for a chance to take home the championship title and a $20,000 prize that will be split between them and a charity of their choice, the company states.
Pushing the Boundaries of Mixology
“The annual Tanteo Standoff is the perfect opportunity to come together and support the ingenuity of local bartenders across the country,” said Neil Grosscup, President of Tanteo Tequila, in a news release. “This competition serves as a toast to the innovators, creators, and risk-takers who continually push the boundaries of mixology. We look forward to seeing what revolutionary ideas will be created next.”
Now through April 21, bartenders nationwide are encouraged to enter the competition by creating their original Tanteo recipe, sharing it on Instagram, tagging @tanteotequila and the bar they’re representing (if applicable), and using the hashtag #tanteostandoff24. Consumers can go online and visit the Tanteo website to vote once per day for their favorite bartender from each region, the company states.
