Former Chairman Dave Roberts

It is with great sadness that Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America (WSWA) announces the passing of former WSWA Chairman Dave Roberts of Truro Vineyards. Mr. Roberts was an influential and inspirational leader in the wine and spirits industry and served on the WSWA Board of Directors from 1994 to 2001, including his 2000 to 2001 term as Chairman.

After 40 years in the fine wine and spirits industry, with 20 years as a CEO of United Liquors, Mr. Roberts retired in 2006 and began to pursue his dream of winemaking at Truro Vineyards, enlisting his family’s commitment and support.

Beyond his work on the Board, Mr. Roberts was an active member of WSWA, including serving as Vice President for WSWA’s Convention Committee and Public Relations & Services Committee, and Senior Vice President of the Government Affairs Committee.

Industry colleagues of Mr. Roberts shared their remembrances:

“Dave Roberts made a positive impact on our industry over decades, and his work championing family-owned and operated wine and spirits wholesalers is one of his lasting legacies,” Francis Creighton, WSWA President and CEO, said.

“Dave Roberts was a consummate gentleman, and an aggressive, fun-loving, progressive ‘out of the box’ thinker and leader. His Legacy will live on and his impact on WSWA was always positive,” Tom Cole, WSWA Chairman, said.
