Wines of Portugal Announces Record Sales and New App

Wines of Portugal, the U.S. marketing campaign from ViniPortugal, the Interprofessional Association of the Portuguese Wine Industry, is excited to release its 2016 exports report. The report shows another strong year of growth for the Portuguese wine industry, leading Wines of Portugal to predict even greater success in 2017.

Portugal exported 4,955,762 gallons in volume to the U.S. in 2016, an 8.8% increase over 2015, with 67% of the total volume comprised of still wines. Wines of Portugal also reports an increase in volume of sparkling wine as well, a 55% increase over 2015.

In the first quarter of 2017 alone, Portugal exported 1,206,209 gallons of still wines to the U.S. – a 33.9% increase compared to the first quarter of 2016.

The momentum continues with the launch of a new Wines of Portugal app to further promote the campaign around the world. The app serves as a portal for events, including event details, floor plans and wines featured, and features information on Portuguese grapes, wine regions and fun facts.
