Westfalia Technologies just announced its collaboration with Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits to deploy state-of-the-art unit-load AS/RS technology in its newly expanded Las Vegas, NV warehouse, the company states.

Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits (SGWS) has selected Westfalia as its partner to implement a reserve storage system for beer, wine and spirit products. Westfalia’s multi-deep high-density AS/RS system is designed to streamline the storage and retrieval process, ensuring optimal efficiency in managing inventory and fulfilling orders, according to Westfalia.

A Streamlined Storage Solution

Because of Westfalia’s unique Satellite® design, the AS/RS can handle many different pallet types commonly found in the beer industry without needing a support or system board. This feature allows for more seamless integration with an automated case picking system as well as simplifying full pallet order fulfillment, the company states.

At the heart of the solution are four multi-deep Satellite® storage and retrieval machines (SRMs), a complete racking system, input and output pallet conveying system and electrical controls. These components work in harmony to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance, meeting the high standards set by SGWS for their new automated warehouse, according to Westfalia.

“Southern Glazer’s is excited to continue our long-term relationship with Westfalia Technologies, which has proven to benefit our customers, suppliers and employees,” said Mark Booth, VP – Supply Chain Technology for Southern Glazer’s, in a news release. “We’re confident that our ongoing investments will set our service capabilities apart from the competition, while enabling us to enhance employee skills, improve efficiency and ensure safety for our employees.”

Enhancing Warehouse Control and Management

One of the key highlights of the collaboration is the incorporation of Westfalia’s Savanna.NET® Warehouse Management System. This advanced system will enhance overall warehouse control and management and interface seamlessly with their ERP system, the company states. Westfalia’s Human Machine Interface (HMI), “Firefly”, also provides a world class interface to simplify the management of data within the automated system as well as improve the actual control of the machinery – all in one application.

“We are thrilled to be chosen by Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits for this groundbreaking project in Las Vegas,” said Dan Labell, President and owner at Westfalia Technologies, in the release. “Our advanced AS/RS technology is tailored to meet the unique needs of beverage distribution and we are confident that it will significantly elevate the efficiency and performance of Southern Glazer’s operations.”
