The GlenDronach Expands Scotch Portfolio with Two New Expressions

The GlenDronach has announced the release of two new bottlings: The GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 8 and The GlenDronach Master Vintage 1993.

Available in U.S. and global markets, these two new expressions from Master Blender Rachel Barrie are meant to represent The GlenDronach’s tradition, since 1826, of marrying Highland spirit with Spanish sherry oak.

Matured for 10 years in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks, Cask Strength Batch 8 is bottled at 61% ABV. To create The GlenDronach Master Vintage 1993, Barrie selected Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks laid down in the Highland distillery in 1993; it is 48.2% ABV.

As is the case for all The GlenDronach expressions, these two Scotch whiskies are non-chill filtered.

The GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 8 has aromas of sandalwood, oak and Columbian coffee, the company says, with dark honey, cocoa and Brazilian nuts. On the palate is mocha, caramel macchiato and cherry chocolate cake, layered with dates, plum skin and sultana raisins. The finish is espresso coffee and cocoa with hints of licorice and cherry tobacco.

The nose on The GlenDronach Master Vintage 1993 includes brandy-laced fruitcake and marzipan above a base of smoked walnut and toasted raisin bread, the company reports. Flavors includecocoa-dusted coffee and sultana brioche brightened by baked orange rind and the juiciness of prune oil. On the finish is cocoa and dates with lingering pecan toffee.

The GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 8 is available for a suggested retail price of $95 per 750-ml. bottle, while The GlenDronach Master Vintage 1993 carries an SRP of $350.
