Overview

The Vice President, Commercial Finance will provide leadership to Commercial Finance, Pricing and Inventory teams to drive profit optimization and deliver gross margin performance through effective pricing, promotions, and programming analysis. This role is responsible for overseeing the development of standardized tools and processes within the assigned region or large state to ensure consistency and efficiencies in performance reporting and analytics. This role provides lead support in meeting Corporate Revenue Management objectives.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead Commercial Finance function in a sub-region or large state
  • Oversee the analysis of pricing and promotional activities to drive effective use of trade spend and impact on internal profitability
  • Oversee the analysis of various data sources related to product/supplier financial performance, identify opportunities, and provide recommendations for areas of optimization
  • Oversee decision support to drive achievement of volume growth while protecting the value
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to build the annual sales plan, reconcile spends, and develop strategic pricing plans for the marketplace
  • Support leadership in managing financial performance to ensure delivery of internal and supplier plans
  • Collaborate on the development and lead the adoption of new reporting tools as needed
  • Oversee Commercial Finance training delivery to develop capabilities focused on margin enhancement inclusive of pricing and promotional spend management and effectiveness
  • Drive the consistent implementation of company initiatives; define guidelines/roadmap to drive local understanding and execution against priorities
  • Ensure accurate and efficient distribution of commercial finance reports and other business intelligence essential to the commercial organization
  • Oversee the inventory process with internal and external partners; responsible for streamlining processes and collaborating with supplier partners to order agreed upon inventory levels
  • Ensure quarterly and yearly review of direct reports, including developmental plans and appraisals, are completed
  • Responsible for building the capabilities of direct reports
  • Recruit, select, orient, and train employees; conduct terminations, as needed
  • Coach and counsel employees; discipline individuals according to company policy; plan and monitor employee goals; and appraise performance
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field of study
  • Seven years of experience with an emphasis on commercial experience, P&L responsibility, and forecasting
  • Experience with financial planning and pricing management in the CPG industry; supplier and wholesaler experience
  • Five years of experience directly supervising others
