Location: Atlanta, GA
Summary – The Director of Operations has responsibility over the Atlanta facility with operations consisting of a Day Shift, Night Shift and Transportation Department. You will provide operational leadership in our Distribution Center while driving results, executing world class service and maintaining an accurate inventory. By partnering with the General Manager, this position is responsible for safe, timely and efficient shift operations. Trains, coaches and develops staff to ensure a world class level of productivity, inventory accuracy and order fulfillment. Utilize leadership skills to create and promote an environment where employees are engaged, empowered and committed to the success of the company. Will collaborate with the Corporate Director of Operations and General Manager to develop strategies and objectives to maximize productivity and leverage expenses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establishes operational procedures for verification of incoming and outgoing shipment accuracy in order to maintain acceptable inventory variances set by management.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of and recommends alternatives for work methods, procedures, controls and staffing to achieve accurate and timely movement of inventory for delivery to our customers while maintaining cost objectives.
- Ensures a safe work environment through education and training, promoting safety awareness and accountability, and adhering to good Human Resource practices.
- Monitor and enhance individual performance through clearly defined expectations, training, coaching and counseling to required results.
- Assesses talent of supervisors and provides feedback for career planning goals and development plans.
- Ensures all policies are adhered to and effectively managed.
- Inspects physical condition of warehouse and equipment daily to ensure safe work environment.
- Responsible for keeping all equipment in good working order by ensuring all preventative maintenance is completed in a timely manner.
- Confers with department heads to ensure coordination of warehouse activities with activities of other functions such as production, sales, records control, and purchasing.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise Day and Night Warehouse Departments, Transportation and Building Maintenance Departments. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and/or Experience –
Four year college degree preferred; or eight to ten years related management experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations –
Valid State driver’s license. Forklift certification and other warehouse certifications as needed.
Train-the-trainer certifications preferred.
Computer skills –
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have some knowledge of warehouse software as well as basic Windows functions, i.e. SAP, KEA, Excel, and Word.
