The VP of National Accounts is responsible for the ownership, development and management of sales and marketing budgets, ensuring the alignment of activities with company goals establishing and implementing long-term business plans.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with senior and executive management to establish a one-, five- and ten-year business plan.
  • Establish short term and long-term sales goals and objectives for accounts, National Accounts Leadership Team and National Account Managers.
  • Research and develop sales and marketing strategies which identify growth for chain accounts and for Columbia Distributing.
  • Direct and coordinate company sales and marketing plans at the chain level. In conjunction with other senior managers, develop company focus calendar for the company, state and local levels.
  • Coordinate chain sales plans and monitor results with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage sales and marketing budgets to the achievement of company goals.
  • Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of sales, execution, costs and profitability of company plans.
  • Ensure supplier satisfaction by developing mutually agreed upon objectives and strategies, and work with Chain Leadership Team to develop chain-specific plans to achieve those goals.
  • In conjunction with National Accounts Leadership Team, establish vertical call coverage goals for top-volume chain accounts, and lead the company’s relationship with those accounts senior and executive managements.
  • Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate department staff, including the development and implementation of a systematic education program for all positions within the department.
  • Schedule, organize and lead routine sales meetings for both National Accounts Leadership Team and full department.
  • Lead the company’s involvement with various business and community functions, including industry organizations and charities which partner with key chain customers.
  • Complete all other tasks or projects as assigned.

  • Lead and manage Pricing Team on price changes including general increases, promotional and quantity discounting to all customers.
  • Lead and manage Category Management Team for all customers, chain and independent.

  • Ability to lead and facilitate group meetings.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience with an AS400 system.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule.

Experience

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years previous Direct Store Delivery (DSD) or Consumer Packaged Goods (CGG) sales management experience.
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree is preferred.
