Sipwell Wine Co., a female-founded and black-owned canned wine company, is launching with Monterey Bay Wine Company to bring the brand’s canned sparkling wine to Northern California. With Monterey Bay, this partnership marks Sipwell’s first distribution expansion since being founded in 2021 by Hilary Cocalis, the company states.
The expanded NorCal distribution will include placement in nearly 200 Safeway stores, beginning at the end of July 2024. Distribution will begin with Sipwell’s ‘Tiny Victories’ Sparkling White Wine, according to the company. Using Champagne yeast, the result is a wine with a feisty bubble and zero sugar. The 2022 vintage of Tiny Victories was the first and only canned wine to make Wine Enthusiast’s annual Top 100 Wines list.
Monterey Bay is woman-owned and has an emphasis on high quality family-owned and sustainably farmed wines, making Sipwell a natural fit within their portfolio. All of Sipwell’s canned wine is sourced from organic and sustainable farm grapes from California’s Central Coast, the company states.
