Overview

The Director, Finance is responsible for overseeing the activities of the Finance Department and ensuring the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, annual audits and annual budgets. Oversee the Customer Support/Credit department, ensuring the accurate and timely recording of customer payments, credit memos and adjustments. This individual will also be responsible for establishing credit policies to protect company assets and minimize bad debts and work to resolve a variety of customer inquiries and issues.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Accounting/Finance department.
    • Responsible for every aspect of monthly close process including JE preparation and/or review, creation of financial statements, trend analysis and review of all account reconciliations.
    • Manage the entire annual budget process including coordination with senior management of every functional area to ensure timely and accurate completion of the process.
    • Participate in a wide variety of special projects and create a variety of ad-hoc analysis.
    • Establish and maintain systems and internal controls which verify the integrity of company data and reporting and protect company assets.
    • Assist in the preparation of various income tax schedules to assure the accurate and timely completion of all income tax returns.
    • Collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer on a variety of cost saving/profit enhancing initiatives and other one-off projects.
    • Work with department heads to establish processes and internal controls related to payment applications.
  • Manage the Customer Support/Credit department.
  • Coordinate with the Business Services Department, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, employee expense reports, cash control, core payroll processing.
  • Investigates unusual customer/sales representative activity.
  • Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, bank and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Other duties, as assigned by the jobholder’s supervisor, may also be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or equivalent training and work experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of accounting managerial experience.
  • Advanced PC skills using MS Office and other various computer programs including presentation software.
  • Must be a results-oriented professional with verbal/written communication skills using diplomacy and discretion as well as customer service skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently and/or within a team, pay attention to detail and meet deadlines.
  • Analytic and reporting skills.
  • Utilize sound judgement and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, high-volume, team environment.
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger, cost accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, income tax and banking.
  • Experience with an ERP system (SAP experience).
