Amber Beverage Group — a spirits producer, distributor, logistics provider and retailer of beverages — has announced the appointment of Roland van Bommel as the company’s new non-executive director.
He will join a team currently led by the ABG Supervisory Board’s Chairman Mark Garber.
Van Bommel is currently a non-executive director of Asahi Beverages Oceania, part of the Tokyo-based Asahi Group Holdings Ltd. In the past he held the position of Chairman of the Board of Managers of WhistlePig, Chief Executive Officer for William Grant & Sons Ltd and Chief Executive of Maxxium Worldwide.
Van Bommel has pursued a governance career since 2010, and has experience as a Director and as a Senior Executive with large world-wide corporations.
“Roland’s experience as CEO of Maxxium and William Grant & Sons is of great value to us,” says Garber. “He has successfully created route to markets and developed brands like Sailor Jerry and Hendrick’s. Roland was invaluable to WhistlePig as the company worked to build a super-premium whiskey business over the last decade.”
“I am very happy to be joining the ABG Board and to be working with such an outstanding and dynamic team,” says Van Bommel. “Amber Beverage Group is well positioned in a number of areas in the wine and spirits industry where I believe my experience can be helpful, as we set our sights on continued growth and expansion.”
Amber Beverage Group operates internationally from its head office in Luxembourg and through its production and distribution companies in Russia, Mexico, the UK, Australia, Austria and the Baltics, its historical home. ABG employs over 2,100 people. ABG has a wholly owned portfolio of over 200 brands in more than 185 markets where ABG is active.
