Woodford Reserve has unveiled the 2019 edition of their annual limited-edition Woodford Reserve Batch Proof bourbon.
This cask-strength expression is part of the brand’s annual Master’s Collection series, which highlights the latest innovations from Woodford Reserve Master Distiller Chris Morris.
First introduced last year, Batch Proof celebrates Woodford Reserve’s proprietary batching process: blending barrels and then presenting the liquid at its actual proof, which this year is 123.2.
Batch Proof is made with the same grain bill and process as Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon.
“Most people do not get to experience the intensity of the aromas and the smoothness of the whiskey at a higher proof point,” says Morris. “With this innovative release, whiskey lovers will have the chance to taste Woodford Reserve the way the masters taste it.”
Woodford Reserve Batch Proof is available in select U.S. and global markets for a suggested retail price of $129.99 per 750-ml. bottle. It has aromas of rich oak, overripe banana and marzipan, the company reports, with hints of orange oil dusted with graham cracker and dried cherry. On the palate is dried apricot with dark chocolate layered over toasted hazelnuts and coffee, with faint flavors of cinnamon and clove. The finish is of spearmint and sweet cedar wood.
