Patron Adds First Core Tequila in Two Decades

Patrón for the first time in a quarter of a century has announced a new addition to its core range of tequilas with the unveiling of Patrón Extra Añejo.

Crafted from 100% Weber Blue Agave, Patrón Extra Añejo is distilled in small batches using both the traditional “tahona” process and the modern roller mill method, a combination the company believes creates a smoother taste.

Patrón Extra Añejo is aged in small oak barrels for at least three years. The spirit has sweet and fruity aromas such as medium oak, vanilla, dry fruits, raisins, light-cooked agave, honey, caramel, light banana and citrus, the company reports. Flavors include apple and banana, dry fruits, light nuts, citrusy orange and lemon, honey, oak and vanilla.

The suggested retail price for Patrón Extra Añejo is $89.99 per 750-ml bottle. The new spirit, available now at spirit retailers nationwide, also comes in a 375-ml size.

“The evolution of the ultra-premium tequila category has been extraordinary, as more people across the globe have come to recognize and value the sophistication of this world-class spirit,” says Lee Applbaum, global CEO, Patrón Spirits. “Patrón Extra Añejo is an excellent example of this rapidly changing consumer appreciation for fine tequila, and we’re delighted to share this new expression with spirits aficionados everywhere.”
