DFW and Michel Rolland Partner on Clos de los Siete Wine

Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits is expanding its fine wine portfolio by partnering with Bordeaux oenologist and celebrated winemaker Michel Rolland. Effective September 1, the company will become the exclusive U.S. sales and marketing agent for Rolland’s Clos de los Siete, an Argentine red blend.

Deutsch Family first began working with Rolland on Les Vignobles André Lurton, which it also imports. Rolland assists with the blending of Château Bonnet Red, Château La Louvière and Château Couhins-Lurton.

Clos de los Siete has attracted critical attention, with Robert Parker awarding 90-point or higher scores to nine of the last 11 vintages. James Suckling gave the 2013 vintage a 92-point score.

“Clos de los Siete provides the opportunity for consumers to enjoy an extraordinary wine crafted by a world-renowned oenologist for less than $20,” said Peter Deutsch, CEO Deutsch Family. “I’m personally a longtime adorer of this wine and am thrilled to have the chance to introduce it to many more consumers.”

“I’ve been fortunate to consult with many of the best wine brands in the world. Clos de los Siete is different. It carries my name and is my pride and joy,” said Rolland. “The Deutsch Family is the ideal partner to carefully build this brand into something meaningful in the U.S.”

The 2014 vintage of Clos de los Siete is made with 54% Malbec, 18% Merlot, 13% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 8% Syrah, 4% Cabernet-Franc and 3% Petit-Verdot (ABV 14.5%).

Red blends are the second largest red wine category behind Cabernet Sauvignon and are outpacing the growth rate of Cabernet Sauvignon by more than double, 8% to 3%.

Clos de los Siete is made using Rolland’s carefully honed oenology techniques, which include precise drip irrigation, double Guyot pruning and manual harvesting. It retails for $19.99. Global production is approximately 80,000 cases.
